Unrelated Thoughts

My classmates are full of nonsensical legalese and malapropisms. Trying to sound impressive never sounded so sad. So desperate.

I was falling asleep last night and I realized I didn’t want to be anywhere else at that moment. We had just spent the weekend in Vegas, a whirlwind trip of drinking and socializing. But when I snuggled into bed next to Beau, I could hear helicopters lightly roaring outside, see a few city lights twinkling in the darkness through my blinds, but I heard Beau breathing deeply and Nibbler then nestled into the crook of my legs and I’ve never felt so safe. So at peace, like a little flower in a giant concrete jungle.

I’ve reached a new level of fatigue. Napping in my car is something I never thought I could do. Usually, I need all circumstances to be perfect in order to snooze – position, air flow, privacy, time… But I just slept in my car for an hour between classes in my school’s parking garage. I laid the driver’s seat back and let NPR lull me into sweet public sleep. And it was good.
